In this video, Brandon welcomes you to Unit 5 and gives an overview of the topics you will cover.

The purpose of this unit is to give you some context within which to form an understanding of the role of programming in AI.

We shall first consider the fundamental concepts of AI. In subsequent lessons, we shall look at some particular approaches that are used in AI programming and illustrate these with simple Python code examples. Different researchers have very different opinions on what methods are appropriate and what are the most promising approaches. Hence, this unit does not attempt to give a comprehensive or unified account of AI programming. The ideas and examples presented here are just a taster of the complex and very diverse techniques that may be used for programming AI systems.
